'Divorce' is all about a court process leading to an order that ends your marriage.  As of the 6th April 2011 the correct term is an 'Application for a Matrimonial Order', rather than a 'Petition for a Divorce'.

It is an administrative process, provided it is an undefended case (and 99.99% are). Do remember that it is not about guilt, fault or innocence, or right or wrong. It is a production line process, a paper chase: neither of you need attend Court unless there is a dispute about the costs of the process.

The presentation you view here describes this process in detail.

At the end there is a section entitled ‘The Law’. It is expressed in simple terms. If you want to understand how this presentation relates to you then you must read it .
