Your separation will affect you, your co-parent and your children now and for the rest of your lives, and theirs. Now you need to know more of  the legal relationship between yourself, your co-parent and your children to help you plan for the future.

This presentation helps you to understand these issues and the assistance that may be provided by the family justice system to help you resolve conflict. You need to understand what the system can do (and what it cannot do) to assist you.

It is important that you appreciate that the family justice system can deal with practical details, but it does not have the power to change attitudes of mind. Cafcass and the Courts can bring pressure to bear on both of you so that you may concentrate on the real issue: what is in the best interests of your children, but ultimately it can only deal with practical arrangements.

At the end of this presentation there is a section entitled ‘The Law’. It is expressed in simple terms. If you want to understand how this presentation relates to you then you must read it.
